Novus Co-founder Jason Goldsworthy led the ceremony. Michael West from the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council gave a traditional Welcome to Country on Cammeraygal land.
The tower will rise 27 levels on the Pacific Highway and offer a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom residences.
Wellness and community shape the whole design. Residents will have a range of indoor and outdoor amenities, including:
- a fully equipped gym
- a pool, sauna and cold plunge
- a yoga studio
- co-working spaces
- a resident lounge and dining area
- a BBQ terrace
- a pet park and pet wash
Mr Goldsworthy said the site was possible because of a 2021 NSW Government planning change. That change allowed Build-to-Rent housing in what is now E2 Commercial Centre zoning.
“It was a relatively simple planning change, but for the Build-to-Rent sector it was incredibly significant. Before that change, a Build-to-Sell developer could potentially pay twice as much for land in somewhere like Chatswood as we could. The E2 provisions changed that dynamic, and of all the markets it opened up, Chatswood quickly became our number one target.”
Novus on Albert is the second Novus project in New South Wales, after Novus on Harris in Parramatta. Both are being delivered with M&G Real Estate.
“At Novus, our core mission is pretty simple: to create homes for 10,000 people. We now have two buildings operational and three more under construction across NSW and Victoria, with plenty more in the pipeline.”
“We’re in an exceptional location, with Chatswood’s retail, restaurants, employment and public transport all on the doorstep. In the not-too-distant future, hundreds of people will call this place home. That’s ultimately what today is about.”
Practical completion is estimated for 2029. Novus will then start leasing and operating the building.
